Internalized homophobia, heterosexism and compulsory heterosexuality are real issues and the reasons why this journey can be so hard! Learning about it and acknowledging it when it pops up can make all the difference in the world!

I am a coming out coach, chaplain, bereavement counselor, author, and nationally recognized authority on the subject of women coming out later in life. I am also a late-in-life lesbian myself, having come out at age 51 after being married to a man for 26 years. I foster online communities for women who are re-examining their sexuality later in life with compassion and non-judgement.

Tonda McKay is my wife. Tonda’s activism goes back to when she first came out as a young woman. She was member of the National Organization of Women and the vice president for Nashville NOW. She has volunteered for the Nashville Gay and Lesbian center and went to the first Nashville Pride. She is active in the Nashville LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce and is a nationally certified LGBTQ business owner. She works to support the later in life community.
