When I founded Anne-Marie Zanzal Coaching, I had one mission: to bring people together. I was newly out, about two years into my journey. I saw so many of my new friends grieving so much loss. I wanted to do something to help.

My career as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor has shown me the transformative power of connection, especially in the face of life’s deepest challenges. I saw how grief and loss could isolate, but I also saw how love and community could heal. When I stepped into the world of coaching, my aim was to create spaces where those navigating their own journeys—especially those coming out later in life—could find a sense of belonging and hope.

Over the years, my business has grown and evolved in ways I never could have imagined. What began as small support groups evolved into one-on-one coaching sessions soon expanded into group coaching models, community support groups, and courses designed to meet the unique needs of individuals questioning their sexuality, navigating divorce, or redefining their lives in the wake of profound change.

But even as our offerings expanded, my core values remained the same: self-kindness, shared common humanity, and mindfulness. These principles are the foundation of everything we do, and they have guided me through every step of this journey.

The Heart of Our Community

As I built this work, I came to see that those coming out later in life face unique challenges. Many of us carry decades of conditioning, fears of rejection, and internalized narratives that tell us it’s too late to live authentically. We wrestle with the grief of what we’re leaving behind—relationships, roles, or identities that no longer fit—while holding the hope of something freer and truer on the other side.

Through our group coaching model, I’ve witnessed the power of community in breaking through these barriers. There is nothing more powerful than sitting in a room—virtual or physical—and realizing you are not alone. Stories resonate. Connections form. Healing begins. Lives change.

But I’ve also recognized that some barriers remain. The cost of coaching can be prohibitive for many. And increasingly, I’ve felt the limitations of our primary platform, Facebook, as a space to hold the depth of connection and safety our community deserves.

A New Chapter: Authentically Us

For over a year, I’ve felt the pull to move our community off Facebook. While it has been a helpful tool, it’s no longer the right fit for us. Facebook’s algorithms often bury meaningful conversations, its policies have not consistently protected LGBTQIA+ voices, and the sheer volume of negativity on the platform can weigh heavily on mental health. I’ve felt it myself, and I know many of you have too.

That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce Authentically Us, our new home on Mighty Networks. This move isn’t just about leaving Facebook; it’s about stepping into a space that aligns with our values and priorities.

What Makes Authentically Us Special

Authentically Us is more than a community; it’s a sanctuary. It’s a space designed for LGBTQIA+ individuals coming out later in life to connect, heal, and thrive. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Safe and Inclusive Spaces: No algorithms. No hate. Just authentic connection in a space designed for us.
  • Tailored Support Groups: Whether you’re questioning your sexuality, navigating the “messy middle” of divorce, or figuring out your next steps, we have groups led by experienced facilitators to support you.
  • Community Gathering Sessions: Dive into topics that matter most to us—from compulsory heteronormativity to building confidence as your authentic self.
  • Peace of Mind: You’ll know you’re in a space where you’re seen, valued, and understood.

The cost to join is $35 per month, with your first week free to explore everything the community offers. I understand that many of us are risk-averse and hesitant to try something new, especially when it comes to leaving behind a familiar platform. But I’ve chosen Mighty Networks with your safety and comfort in mind, and I’m confident you’ll find it to be a soft place to land.

Celebrating the Launch

We’ll officially launch Authentically Us on February 10th, with a special kickoff party at 7:00 PM EST. It’s not just the community’s debut—it’s also my birthday, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with all of you. This isn’t just about starting a new chapter for my business; it’s about celebrating the resilience, courage, and authenticity of everyone in this community.

Moving Forward Together

This journey has been one of growth, change, and deep gratitude. To all of you who have shared your stories, trusted me with your pain, and celebrated your triumphs—thank you. You are the heart of this work, and it’s your bravery that inspires me every day.

I hope you’ll join me in this next chapter. Authentically Us is more than a community; it’s a movement toward living openly, loving freely, and supporting one another along the way. Let’s continue to grow together.
